We
only had Farang food (a.k.a Honey pancakes) and Super Mi
so far and was real hungry for some real Indonesian makan.
Walked past a Muslim food store selling nasi padang style
makan and locals were patrolinsing. We went in and ordered
ourselves quite a lot of food. The food was ok though I
wished it was warmer (except for the rice).
For
the rest of the day, I was like just stoning around. Took
a nap and woke up with a thrist. Went to the Tuak shop at
3pm in the afternoon and spent a solid 5 hours there. Had
5 Tuaks and 14 Marlboros..
Tried
a piece of Anjing (Dog). Thought it tasted like Babi (Pork).
I puked and had a stomach upset during the night. Not sure
whether it was due to the Tuak or the Anjing. |

Lunch
was Ikan Goreng (Fried Fish), Curry Nangka (jackfruit curry),
Udang Goreng (Fried prawns ad ate together with the shell)
and Sapi Rendang (Beef Curry). The warm white rice was good.
We ate with our bare hands. Typical Sumatran food. I told
the nice lady to give me Porsi Kechil (small portion) but
we still can't finish. I was damn full. I had a bottle of
Sorso Tea (Bottle tea giant in Indonesia). Overall cost
about Rp38,000 (S$6.70). |
 |
Daging
Anjing (Dog meat). Looks like the breast bone. This was
eaten together with a Sambal sauce. |

Nasi Groeng
at the Batak House. Rp5,000. Comes with an egg, cucumber,
tomatoes and vegetables. It was ok. |
 |
Catherina
and her mother. |
 |
A young
Batak and his dog. I wondered when will the dog end up on
our dinner table. |
 |
Sup Anjing
with Tuak (looks like milk tea). I had a bowl. Just like
any home cooked soup with carrots. |
 |
Cloudy
Toba and the evening sun. Recieved source from Singapore
that Toba is going to errupt again. The last time it errupted
was 35,000 years ago. |
 |
Yes, yes.
It's me doing the social smoking thinge. Just wanted to
feel cool. |
 |
Breakfast
was Lotong. Porsi Kechil Kechil (very small). It had some
Bee Hoon with it (though I not sure whether the Bataks call
it Bee Hoon as well). The Telur Sambal was good though. |
