I
learnt a vital lesson when I woke up. Without eating absolutely
anything, down a beer (Bintang in this case). It was amazing
sweet and fulfilling!!!
I
felt that I should have made a formal introduction to Bir
Bintang at some moment. Its predecessor was the Dutch Beer
Giant Heineken. As the Dutch brought "civilization"
to Indonesia, they brought with them a brewery to brew the
magic juice. After World War II, the Dutch left and the
brewery can no longer use the flagship brand. Making use
of the red star on Heineken, they created a new brand named
"Bintang" (Star in Bahasa). "Best Served
with Friends".
It
was the first full day in Tuk Tuk and we wondered around
the area. There were restaurants around but most people
were swapping files. There were hints that it was once a
very busy town, filled with tourists and backpackers alike.
Due to the various happenings in Indonesia, everything has
changed in Tuk Tuk. Though the beer is still flowing (yes
it does!), the scenery has not changed, tourists were far
and few.
Highlights
of the day was my first Tuak (oil palm wine) and daging
anjing (dog meat). It was supposed to be great for pom pom
(sex). Of course, I indulged myself into more Bintangs.
Life is supposed to be this wonderful. |
