If
not for the cheap tickets to Hongkong, the ex-British colony
would not have been part of my itinerary. Nevertheless,
it is still a pretty nice place due to 3 reasons below.
1) Good food (better than Sillypore). 2) The cool weather
(minus all that pollution) during winter. 3) Beer is cheaper
than Sillypore!!! Hongkong wins.
Anyway,
my stay in Hongkong this time was brief. Reached Hongkong
at noon. Went to the Wishing Tree at Tai Wo, traveled to
Yuen Lang for Wife Biscuit, took a bus to Tsim Sha Tsui.
Found accommodation at Chungking Mansions. Strolled along
Victoria Harbour while watching the crowds roll by. Walked
to Temple Street for some Karaoke and Claypot Rice. Slept
in an extremely cramped room. Woke up at 530am and rushed
to the airport for my flight. Got on flight (thank god)
and before I knew it, my short trip was over....
Period.

Had
beef tendon noodles at Yuen Lang. HK$13 (=S$3) per bowl.
This can be considered low end, but it still cost 3 or 4
times more of what I eat in Shenzhen. |
 |
A large
crowd gathered at Victoria Harbour (facing Central). Nice
view and i thought there were pyrotechnics when I heard
the "wows" and "whoas". At the end,
I realised it was only a couple of laser shows. *Yawn* At
least my Carlsebrg (HK$9.9) didn't let me down. |

Graffiti
at one of the pillars at the Victoria Harbour bus interchange.
There was also booths on Falun Gong, SPCA and some anti-communism
society. No one paid much attention though, I think. |
 |
Karaoke
at Temple Street. I walked over because they were singing
a very nice cantonese sings which I heard it from a movie.
There was a sizable crowd around and some were dancing.
One of the singers (the plump singer on the right, her name
is Hao Hao) offered me some tea and peanuts. I gave them
a small token to express my appreciation (i.e. a Singapore
$2 note). At least there were some fun in lonely Hongkong. |

I had
this a year ago with my mum and I had it again. Nothing
much has changed (e.g. Boss still collect the $ when you
are almost finishing). Preserved sauage claypot rice (HK$18),
Oyster Omelete (HK$20) and a large bottle of Harbin Beer
(HK$15). There was quite alot of food (recall that I had
the same amount of food with my mum) but I managed to finish
it. I was probably hungry. Or maybe I simply didn't want
to feel hungry when I am back in my dump (or my room). |

In Osaka
Guesthouse (HK$100/nite), Chungking Mansions, Block C 13th
Floor. It was extremely cramped, I would estimate it be
1.5meters by 2.5meters. But if you consider that it has
a air-con unit, personal toilet, water heater and colour
TV (wow!), perhaps it was ok. The only bad thing was I can
hear squeaking sounds on my wooden plank roof (maybe rats)
and the air quality wasn't that good (I smell cooking whole
night, and I can state with conviction that it wasn't a
dish I like).
I didn't have a good sleep. Woke up at 2am, 3am, 430am. |
 |
Woke up
at 530am to catch my flight back to Sillypore. Note how
cramped the toilet was as I can't even bend 90 degrees to
brush my teeth. Perhaps I am over-complaining. This is after
all the cheapest accomodation (Singles catgeory) I can find
in Tsim Sha Tsui. |
 |
The
picture of my trip. It shows me with bloodshot eyes waiting
for a train at Tsim Sha Tsui Station at 610am. Was rushing
to the airport by going to Tung Chung Station to take a
bus (HK$20.50) as compared to taking airport express (HK$90).
It would damn cool if I wasn't carrying a huge backpack
with the 2 plastic bags (red) of pastries. |
 |
Viewing
gallery at Chap Lap Kok airport. I thought the people in
the glass capsule looks pretty futuristic while they wave
their hands at whoever.
Thank god I managed to get the last seat on my flight. |

I started
this blog on the aeroplane. So I suppose I should end it
the same way as I started it. Just had breakfast of chicken
breast with some silly sauce and potatoes. Downed a Budwesier
while watching Tim Burton's Corpse Bride. The show was kinda
cute. My mind was empty but my bladder was full. |
