Woke up at 10am and headed eastwards towards the Cerro San Bernardo (1,454m). Took a couple of my signature pose as there were not alot of people in Parque San Martin. Checked out the teleferico and was advised by the staff (who spoke relatively good English) that there was a technical issue with it and thus the service not operational. They were also not sure when it would be ready and advised me the only way up Cerro San Bernardo is to walk.
And so I walked up the hill; 1,070 steps in all. Although it was chilly, the sun was up and it made the walk pretty relaxing if not for my weak fitness (my nose was running along the way). The climb was interesting as well; there were 14 plaques denoting the death/resurrection of Jesus Christ. It took me nearly an hour to reach the summit but the views it offered was great. The aerial representation was stunning; Salta was built on the Lerma Valley and consisted of endless rows of buildings separated by roads or streets. It could have been considered as a concrete jungle if it was not surrounded by nearby mountainous regions.
I hanged around on Cerro San Bernardo for an afternoon till there were more people appearing (the teleferico was operational at around 4pm). Sat down at a cafe and ate an ice-cream (it has to be Dulce de Leche or caramel, what else?) for AR$4/S$1.90. Was feeling rather grouchy; not really sure why though. Maybe I was approaching into the second half of my trip and it seems that I still had not found what I was looking for.

A pair of lovers were kissing while trying to snap an image using their mobile phones. I wished Sally was there with me when I took this picture.

Perhaps all Argentines simply love taking photographs; even when they are in the teleferico.

Another couple kissing at the summit of Cerro San Bernardo. Oh boy, I really wished Sally was there at that moment! |

I purchased a AR$6/S$2.86 ticket so that I could get back to Salta via the teleferico.
p.s.: It costs the same for the ascending trip as well. |

I thought I looked quite cool in the photograph; taken in the cable car with the help of my mini-tripod. |
