Stole a weekend away from work and "forced" Bb (my ex now) to go for
a real short trip to Malacca (west coast of Malaysia). After
doing 2 such short trips in a space of a month (remember
Bangkok in late Mar
06), it can get really tiring. But then again, when getting
leave for a week seems more difficult than raping a pig,
one will have to make do with such arrangements. After all,
Malacca was roughly a 3-hour ride from Johor Bahru. Thus,
after a banal day in office, we crossed the border and went
to Larkin (Johor Bahru Bus Station). Ate Mee Soto (Malay
Style Noodle Soup) and boarded the bus (Johora Bus Company)
to Malacca (Rm14.60/person) at 9pm.
Just as what the lady over the ticket booth had said, we
reached Malacca Sentral (Malacca Bus Station) at 12am sharp. Tried to orientate ourselves with the map in the guidebook, but we were unable to find any landmark that can suggest where we were. Met a friendly Malay lady who gave us directions to town and we began walking. She told us it would take 30mins. It took us an hour!!
Along the way, we saw a sleepy Malacca. Apart from a butcher
who was cleaning up carcasses of freshly slaughtered pigs
and a ladyboy soliciting business, all was well and quiet.
We were pretty relieved once we knew our directions, as
we saw a signboard labeled "Sungei Melaka" beside a river.
After crossing a bloody scary bridge (it looks like it is
going to collapse any moment), we finally arrived: Chong
Hoe Hotel.
It was pretty fun to walk around (looking like idiots with backpacks) at night when you don't know where the hell you are going.

Under
the signboard of Malacca Sentral Bus Station. It was pretty
large and you can see it from afar at night. The station
was opened recently and is about 2 kilometers north of Malacca
City. |

The
"Hunchback" was caught dancing along the streets of Chinatown
in the middle of the night. A candid shot of me trying out
my (lying on the ground) signature. |

What do we have here? A Malaysian LP, 2 pieces of soap, a bunch of keys and an empty "KY Jelly" box. What happened previously in Room number 7? |

Trying to take a picture in front of the mirror. The frame came along with the mirror, I merely adjusted it so that it fits exactly into the photograph. |

Bb (like
a black ant and now my ex) at The Orang Utan House (Jalan Hang Jebat).
It's actually opened by a young artist (Charles Cham) and
it sells paintings and T-Shirts (printed with his designs).
Check out his website here. |

Bb (my ex) in a Hainanese Chicken Rice Resturant. People flocked in on the Saturday morning to enjoy the famous (supposingly) dish in Malacca. The Chicken Rice is special in a sense that the rice seems to be mashed up and rolled into balls (about 1 inch in diameter). It is then eaten with the typical Hainanese steamed chicken. Being Hainanese, I naturally have high expectations of the Hainanese signature dish. Perhaps it will be better if the rice was warmer. A meal for 2 set us back for Rm12. |

Me at Jalan Hang Jebat (Jonker Street). It always feels good to be buming around. |

Bb (my ex) slacking in Chong Hoe Hotel. It was typical Chinese-run guesthouse and pretty basic Rm43/nite for an AC double room). |

Bb (my ex) at the entrance of Chong Hoe Hotel. You can seldom see such windows in Sillypore. |

Bb (my ex) in The Orang Utan House. They actually had a cool jeep (on the left) parked in the shop. |
