As my ticket to the Sagrada la Familia included admission to Park Güell, I scrambled (only realised at 4pm that I would be going) for directions to Vallcarca/El Carmel area since it closes at 6pm. Built on a rocky hill north of Barcelona, the park was originally part of a commercially unsuccessful housing site; the idea of Count Eusebi Güell whom the park was named after. In the end, only 2 houses were built and a certain architect moved in (no points for guessing who he is). Anyway, after alighting at the Lesseps metro station, I "marched" quickly (1.2km) and managed to catch a glimpse of the house (Casa-Museu Gaudi) where Gaudi once stayed. It was ok though I would much prefer the views of the city and the Mediterranean Sea from the top of the hill.
Went back to the Barri Gotic area and found myself a (pretty touristy) restaurant (along C de l'Argenteria) where they serve Paella (a Spanish rice dish that originated from Valencia)
in a 1-person serving (was told that Paella is usually prepared for 2 people). Thought that it was very tasty (a nice change from KFC and instant noodles) and definitely more filling than Tapas. Drank (as usual) 2 cans of Estrella Damm before I fell asleep.
Before boarding my flight back to London, I took a decent walk in downtown Barcelona and pretty much "had" all the Gothic architecture to me early in the morning. Checked out and made my way to the airport; this time I was cleverer and took the cheaper option (i.e. 2 trains with a transfer at Passeig de Gracia costing €2.60/S$5.20) instead of taking the direct A1 bus (I should had knew it when the bus was so empty). Was running a bit late for my flight but nevertheless made it in the end (was the last passenger to get on board though).
Was back in freezing London by 6pm (it was already dark due to the silly winter). Made my way back to Bro's place safely (with train connections at West Hampstead and Baker Street stations) and it was non-eventful. Was digging into a delicious (but fatty) steam fish (that Mum had prepared for dinner) by 8.30pm though my body had started to feel weird. |

When asked why he paid so much attention on the top of the spires where no one would observe the details from close up, the God's architect simply answered: "The angels would see them."

A dog was trying to hijack the picture when I was trying to do it (note that only my legs can be seen and they seems to be sticking from the dog's "rear")

I was at Park Güell for a (very) quick walkabout. Thought that the sign looked pretty psychedelic to me.

Dinner at Xador Restaurant on my last evening in Barcelona. Paella (a specialty from the regions of Valencia, €10/S$20), a dish where rice is cooked in a wok-like pan with pork, chicken and seafood (yummy!). Since I was in the Mediterranean region, I had some clams (€6/S$12) and an Estrella Damm (€2/S$4).
p.s.: Was told that "real" Paella is often made for at least 2 people and would need about 40mins for preparation. I suppose the one I had was the touristy version (i.e. it was prepared first and re-heated). |

Along the street of Carrer Del Misser Ferrer in the Barri Gotic area (behind La Rambla). I suppose horse carts (before the popularization of motor vehicles), were the rule of the thumb in terms of transport. |

Frontal view of the La Catedral. I wondered why is "every" building (thinking about Sagrada la Família) under construction in Barcelona nowadays? |

Walking along Via Laietana, I was on my way to Post Office on a lovely Thursday morning. The warm sunshine reminded me how good was it to be alive everyday. |
