It was pretty amazing to think that 50 hours (30hours on flight and 20hours on a bus ride) was spent on a journey, more than half a world away, just for me to visit a waterfall. People would think that I am crazy when they know I went through all these just to find out how Tony Leong (in Happy Together) felt when he got himself really drenched in Iguazú!

Deep down inside me, I knew I had this unquenchable thirst for travelling. South America was probably the furthest continent which I could have visited. Though I never did questioned if this was something I could have done without, I was dillusioned by it (and that was only after 2 weeks in Argentina). As I stood in front of the waterfall, the impact to me was so raw and yet so empty. So impactful was the first-hand view of a great creation by nature coupled with the roaring gush of water falling straight down for 700meters by pure gravity. So empty was the realisation that I was finally here and was just wondering what is next then?

I continue to stand in front of the waterfall, not moving, while getting fully drenched by it. Listening to the Happy Together Soundtrack with my trusty Ipod (just kept repeating track 1: Cururrucucu Paloma), I tasted water droplets that had fallen onto my face. It somehow got a weird salty taste; though we all know that Rio Iguazú is a river (thus it filled with fresh water). This was when I realised that I would never be contended in my travels - no matter how far I go to.

During my final evening in Puerto Iguazú, I gulped myself silly on a bottle of Quilmes while watching re-runs of Manchester United lifting the Champion League's trophy on a sports cable. As I fell slowly into slumbers, I wonder why life can be so beautiful, yet feeling so numb at times.

Aerial view of the Iguazú Falls as taken from Brazil. I though it was so good that I even used it for my homepage.

The water droplet marks on the photograph would suggest how drenched I was when I stood near to the waterfall.
Rainbows can be viewed anytime during the day in Iguazú Falls especially when the sunlight shines through the mist created by the waterfall.
The last but not least (maybe this is the best picture of all) - the full view of the Iguazú Falls with the Devil's Throat in the background.

p.s.: This was taken in Brazil and I do not think it is possible to take this from the Argentine side.

Although this was a town that was definitely larger than Puerto Iguazú, I did not see alot of people on the streets (perhaps this was due to a Sunday).

Oh boy was I hungry. Wanted to run in and grab some food (I was having craving for some decent soup noodles) but I realised it was closed for the afternoon.
Thought that this was another good picture of the sunset. I somehow just missed home at that particular moment.

Foz Do Iguaçu, Brazil
I was at the Hamburgueseria El Willy (the local hamburger joint) having my Burger Superita (beef, cheese, ham, egg, lettuce and tomato, AR$6 or S$2.86) and Quilmes (AR$7 or S$3.33 per litre) beer while watching the Clausura (Estudiantes de La Plata vs Independiente). It was my first experience watching football with the locals and I realised how passionate they were.

Anyway, the match ended 1-1.
