The train pulled into New Delhi Train Station at 11pm and everybody (as usual) rushed to get out of the train. I walked straight into a stuffy Paharganj and got myself an a/c room at Hotel Rak International (Rs550/S$20.37) per night. Did my toilet runs, bathed and watched Barcelona getting eliminated from the Champion's League. Fell into deep slumbers immediately; afterall I had not slept on a bed for more than 2 days.

As I had explored Old Delhi during the first part of my trip, I headed south and visit the main sights in New Delhi. Though it was getting better after a good sleep, I still needed the toilet runs. Didn't really want to get my Delhi Belly treated here; maybe I just want this to be treated when I get to Sillypore. At this stage, I was fatigued and was using my remaining ounces of energy for missing home, mum and Sally. It seems that I had reached my limit. I was so glad when the flight finally took off for Bangalore (and from there onwards to Sillypore) especially when there was a 3-hour delay at the airport (due to a grounded aircraft).

Bearing in mind I encountered incidents that I would never stumble upon in Sillypore, India was definitely an important experience of my life. The work was not easy; being away from home for long periods of time was worst (realised my dirty laundry just doesn't disappear automatically like it does when I am at home with my mum). Looking back retrospectively, I sometimes wondered how I managed to get by these 8 months. I guess my colleagues in Bangalore helped (CH, BT, Sir Roberto and Sir Alfredo) alot, regardless from cooking those delicious meals during weekends or simply by providing company. Thanks for making my India a better place.

As I board my flight home from Bangalore, I wondered (like I always do) if I ever had a chance to visit here again. I recalled how I whined to everybody back home about this country with its traffic jams, food, organised chaos and how bureaucratic the setup was. And just before I left, I had already started missing the food (yes, I have this love-hate relationship with it) and the diverse culture one can experience where 2 major religion (Hinduism and Buddhism) originated. Sometimes, the (or maybe its just mine) mind is simply too complicated to be understood.

A street hawker selling “Bhel Puri” (a salad-styled snack of grams, tomatoes, onion, lemon) with his mobile stall in Old Mini Market, Janpath, New Delhi.

I wonder the rationale for installing a security detector at the entrance of the Old Mini Market at Janpath where everybody can just bypass it.
Wax figures depicting the collapse of Mahatma Gandhi (the father of India) into the arms of his grand nieces (Manu and Abha) immediately after his assassination.

- Impressions of Gandhi Smriti, New Delhi, India

The last steps that Mahatma Gandhi took before his assassination. At the end of the path, there is a plaque at the spot where he was gunned down by a Hindu fanatic with the following engraved in Hindi:

a)       Hey Ram (his last words; Ram refers to Lord Rama who is an avatar of Vishnu)
b)       5:17 pm (time of his assassination)
c)       30-1-48 (date of his assassination)

wyattwang.com doing a touristy shot with Bapu (an affectionate term that Indians used to address Mahatma Gandhi). Bapu also means father in Hindi.
The Secretariat (north block) at Rajpath (Kingsway); it was clean and well kept (a big difference as compared to Old Delhi).
Rashtrapati Bhavan or the President's House; the official residence of the president of India.

p.s.: This (more or less) denoted the completion of my India trip.
With a copy of the Lonely Planet India and a bottel of Coke (Rs15), I wrote a postcard to Sally in front of the India Gate while I admired the sunset (together with some Sand Flies).

The night view of the India Gate was simply magnificant. When I was leaving the place, power was cut momentarily and the place was pitch black.
