It was definitely great for a young (and certainly inexperienced) shirt-n-tie executive: A chance to travel on duty. Destination? Cedar Rapids, Iowa, United States of America. Right smacked in the Great Plains, I have to travel for almost 30 hours (consider the following transit stops I made: Hongkong, San Francisco, Denver) before landing my foot onto land half a globe away.

As it was my first trip getting that far away from home (i.e. the furthest I been to was Australia), I was certainly excited. The excitement certainly didn't lessen when I knew I got an upgrade to First Class (!!), something I would never had experienced unless I was working in the airline industry (imagine paying a 5-figure sum for a seat to USA). The ignorant me has been doing Cattle (a.k.a. Economy) Class for all of my life. And guess what, I am holding a boarding pass printed with the First Class logo. Somehow, emotions got over me. My eyes began to tear as I started exploring the contols of my seat (i.e. adjusting my leg rest WAS rocket science).

After spending 17 hours in a "metal tube", I arrived in the Land of Freedom via San Francisco. Strangely enough, the first person that I saw in the airport (he was a ground handler) was not what I expected. I thought I will see a Caucasian but he looks Asian/Hispanic at first sight. He probably had mexican blood.

Welcome to the United States of America, the land of the free!

My trusted backpack and luggage posing at Changi Airport, Singapore. This was all I brought for the 8-day trip. My boss says I am a light traveller.

The ignorant me says it is strange to have so much legroom on the plane. This is afterall the first class. They ask me for a drink and remembered my preference for the entire journey. They even serve Budweiser in a wine glass. I don't think I got used to such fine service.
Caviar: A rich man's food, a poor man's dream!! It's another one of those first time stuff that I had experienced.
This is the 3rd time that I set foot on Chap Lap Kok in 2 years. I'm here waiting for the flight to San Francisco. This was also where I knew that I will be "downgraded" to Business Class (thank goodness it wasn't Economy). I don't really care anyway. The fact that I can have a good night's sleep is already comforting enough on a 12hours flight.
"If you're going to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair...". I touched down at SFO at around 6pm. Temperature was around 15-18 degrees. It was a pleasant evening.
The modern San Francisco Airport: Basking in the evening sun.
Hyatt Regency (8th floor), San Francisco Airport. It set us back by USD$83.50/night. It was a nice place with 2 large beds.
Midnight (Pacific Standard Time) or 3pm (GMT+8), 5 Jun 06. The timer function enabled me to pose a picture (this is one of the very few) of myself and the hotel.
Commuters moving at a fast pace (during a busy Monday morning) in San Francisco Airport.
Did someone lose his/her bag (see red bag at bottom left hand corner)? Thoughts from Denver Airport, Colorado.
