One interesting observation I made while walking around in Bangalore is how common and easily available "Chinese" food is in typical Indian restaurants. In quotes because it actually meant Indianised Chinese dishes or Chinese food altered to suit the local taste. There will always be a section in the menu termed as "Chinese"; fried rice, chow mien (a.k.a. fried noodles) and "Manchurian" (probably it is a name for a sauce that taste like the Chinese sweet and sour sauce) dishes. For a while, I almost thought I wouldn't be missing food from home too much!
As I had mentioned before, authentic Chinese food is still available in downtown Bangalore; especially in the vicinity the Mahatma Gandhi (or MG) Road. A typical Sunday would be to go there via Autos or public buses (I will go into that later). Walk my legs silly while hunting around for good photographic opportunities. End the day in MG Road
with a Kingfisher (a Lager brewed in India) and some Chinese food (it helps in reducing all those homesickness in me).
Maybe I dress too shabbily when I go out, or I pull a long face naturally. But if I don't pull out my camera or I keep my mouth shut, most locals cannot tell the difference between me and the people from Nepal, Assam or Manipur (i.e. northeast India, along the borders between India, China and Myanmar). Thus, when people realised that I am not local (i.e. not from South India), they will ask me which state (rather than which country) I am from! Perhaps just like the "Chinese" food in the local Indian restaurants, I am being Indianised as well.

A roadside vendor selling books along Church Street. India is a haven for bookworms as books are very cheap (typically cheaper by 30-40%).

After a whole day of walking, wyattwang.com had a Kingfisher (Rs115 or S$4.42 per 650ml bottle) at Koshy's Bar on a lazy Sunday afternoon while watching the world gone by. Also had Fish and Chips for Rs165 (or S$6.35).
p.s.: Almost succeeded in walking from Majestic to MG Road but I succumbed to the temptations of an Auto (Rs 30). In the end, I realised that it was just a short distance from Cubbon Park to MG Road. |

A flood (picture taken at Hosur Road) occurred while I was making my way to work one day. Had to remove my shoes and walked in the flood in order to get into the office. My colleagues said that it could be dangerous if there was a manhole underneath the muddy waters.
Although it didn't seems like it rained that heavily, but I guess the sewage systems in Bangalore couldn't handle such a downpour and thus resulting in floods and major traffic jams in the city. |

Having my Friday Kingfisher (Rs65 or S$2.50) and Masala Peanuts (Rs 20 or S$0.77). Had to say that the peanuts (mixed with Chinese Parsley, small chillies, diced tomatos, masala powder and lime juice) were simply great! |

wyattwang.com looking all "groggy" having diarrhea and headaches during one of the weekends.
Who has not been to India if he doesn't "enjov" a bout of the all famous travellers' diarrhea?

Bright and merry lights littered all around as people prepares for the Ganesh Chaturthi Festival in Koramangala (southern suburb of Bangalore). |
 |
The kids were in festive mood as I took pictures of a homemade altar of Lord Ganesh in Koramangala. |
 |
I thought the man looked evil but it was probably due to the green ambient light.

Accompanied by a band (they even had a guy on the saxophone), we started the 2-hour procession of Lord Ganesh along the Koramangala 6th Block. |
