Backpackers usually bypass Bangalore for Mysore or Hampi which are 2 and 8 hours away (by bus) respectively. After all there's nothing much to do in this booming city (Bangalore just got their A1 city status in India) except to wine and dine, though this may not be a bad idea when one needs a break from the intense traveling in India.

Coming back to my maiden Indian trip, I typically have a 6-day working week while I try to get a rest on Sundays. This is the day where I usually find decent time to explore the city and of course, always as ready to take photographs. Anyway, it was an all-paid business trip anyway and thus work had to come first. I cannot (and should not) complain about the tough work here though the lazy me certainly woudn't mind if there were more "lesiure" time. :P

I probably had such a "cool" introduction into India and thus would like to convey the experience again eventhough it was already recorded under my mental blogs. It happened during my first leisure day-out in India (after 13 consecutive days of work). Began my day by taking an Auto to Krishnarajendra Market, or commonly known as City Market. For ease of reading, I shall denote this location simply as the City Market.

When I alighted from the Auto, I wanted to confirm my directions with the driver and so I stood beside the Auto and asked questions. Just 5 secs later, I felt a cool but slimy "sensation" on my face suddenly. I reached for it and realised it was betel nut spit! Some idio* (probably from a couple of floors up the building where the Auto was parked) must had spitted betel nut chew and it landed right on my FACE, t-shirt and backpack!! There goes my precious new backpack. :(

Now, that is a INTRODUCTION to India!

Beef, being in Hindu majority South India, is not easy to find. However, I managed to find Beef Biryani (Rs15 or S$0.58 per serving) being sold in one of the side lanes in Chickpet.

I didn't try it though as I was not sure if my body had accustomed to the local food in general.

Long queues of believers queueing up for a session with the local astrologer to have their fortunes told.

This particular astrologer in Cottonpet must be very accurate in his predictions to attract such a large crowd.

- Impressions of Gandhi Nagar (a.k.a. Majestic)
Gandhi Nagar, filled with many budget hotels and cinemas, is a popular shopping district in Bangalore. It was absolutely filled with people when I was there on a hot Sunday afternoon.

It is always nice to take a nap - humans and dogs alike.
Saw a couple of places with graffiti as shown in picture (this was taken along a side lane bewteen MG Road and Church Street). Anyway, Tamil Eelam is a group operating in northern Sri Lanka in quest for a separate Hindu state.
